Things To Do In the Local Area
The Yorkshire Dales has some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world, from rolling hills and sweeping dales, tumbling waterfalls and beautiful rivers, to hidden caves and gorges. What better place to slow down the pace, unwind, and get back in touch with nature. Full of character and charm, Lily-Brooke barns are the perfect place to relax, and enjoy a little bit of history, in a superb location from which you can explore the endless attractions of the Yorkshire Dales.
For those who like to be active, the Yorkshire Dales is a rambler’s paradise, with beautiful walks from the doorstep and beyond. Visit Ingleton waterfalls where a trail takes in a series of lovely waterfalls in a beautiful woodland setting. Try a tour of Ingleborough Cave, the longest show cave in Britain. Malham Cove is a personal favourite, with its gently curving cliff of white limestone and a choice of beautiful walks. You might even glimpse the nesting Peregrine Falcons. If you fancy a challenge, the Yorkshire 3 Peaks are just a short drive away.
Or perhaps you prefer a slower pace. A stroll along the river, Grassington to Burnsall is particularly pretty, or explore the quaint market towns and their independent shops. Take a steam train- the historic Settle to Carlisle railway cuts through the National Park using tunnels and viaducts, including the iconic Ribblehead. Or try the local Embsay steam train which will take you 4 miles to Bolton Abbey where you can explore the ruins of the Abbey, have a picnic, or a walk, and take in the natural beauty of your surroundings.
Super cafes, pubs, and places to eat abound. For good pub grub try the Devonshire Arms in Cracoe, or treat yourselves to a meal at the Michelin Star Angel Inn restaurant at Hetton, a 10-minute walk from Lily-Brooke barns. Be sure to book, it is very popular.
There is so much more to discover, this barely scratches the surface. So grab your walking boots and your binoculars and come and explore one of the most beautiful areas of Great Britain.
